Founded in 1901 by five visionary young women, Alpha Sigma Alpha is an organization that believes friendship is the foundation upon which to lift women up to reach their full potential. Alpha Sigma Alpha sisters share our organization’s values and utilize them as a personal compass in how they engage within the world today. The revision of these statements is the first step in the 2022-24 strategic planning process. The new strategic plan will be unveiled at the 2022 national convention & leadership conference which will be held next summer in Baltimore, MD.
The vision and purpose were refreshed after national council conducted member listening sessions, sought feedback on social media, facilitated conversations with volunteers and members, and performed an intense study of The Ritual of Alpha Sigma Alpha as well as additional historical documents. National council was intent on crafting statements that will serve as guideposts for individual members, collegiate and alumnae chapters and associations and for the organization as a whole.
“Our new vision and purpose represent our past, our present and our future. These updated statements, combined with our values, honor our heritage while positioning our relevancy for the future,” said National President Kelly McGinnis Beck.
The sorority’s purpose captures the spirit of an Alpha Sigma Alpha – leading with integrity, demonstrating generosity, living with values, caring for herself, her sisters and her community. Our bold vision statement asks members and nonmembers to actively work to support all women.
This new vision and purpose will be the foundation for an updated visual identity for Alpha Sigma Alpha. The organization will embark on a rebranding process in the coming months with the new brand being unveiled in 2022.
