Alpha Sigma Alpha and Sigma Sigma Sigma, founders of the Association of Educational Sororities, initiated the vote to dissolve that organization and join the National Panhellenic Conference. In September 1947, Alpha Sigma Alpha petitioned the NPC for associate membership.

The petition, along with those of the other educational sororities (Alpha Sigma Tau, Sigma Sigma Sigma, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Phi Sigma Sigma, Delta Phi Epsilon and Theta Phi Alpha), was accepted on November 1947.
