There are many ways that Alumnae Chapters can build connections with recent alumnae, ensuring they feel supported and engaged as they transition from student life to the next phase of their journey. Below are a few ideas to help spark those connections, along with suggestions on how to get started and ensure these initiatives are successful and sustainable.
Engage with collegiate chapters near you. Building a connection with the collegiate chapters near you can make the transition from collegiate chapter to alumnae chapter easier. The collegians already know some of the members and they can learn how an alumnae chapter works. You can build this connection by reaching out to the chapter and asking to assist in recruitment planning or planning an event to get to know the women in the chapter. Check the chapter locator to find collegiate chapters nearby.
Reach out by email to recent grads. Reaching out by email is a great way to touch base with recent grads. You can invite them to chapter meetings and upcoming chapter events. Send an email to Melissa Merriam at mmerriam@alphasigmaalpha.org for a list of email addresses.
Utilize Social Media. If your alumnae chapter doesn’t have a social media account, now is a great time to start. You can utilize this account to share activities your chapter does and also engage with collegiate chapters on social media by liking, commenting and sharing their posts. Building up your online presence can increase your visibility to recent grads.
